Join Our Intensive MBSR Summer Mindfulness Retreat

During the summer school, we will explore the foundations of mindfulness theory while engaging deeply in mindfulness practice. Through direct experience, you will develop practical mindfulness skills and discover how mindfulness can support your everyday life and work.

The program is based on the principles of MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) — a scientifically grounded program that has been shown to:

  • reduce stress and anxiety
  • strengthen emotional resilience
  • improve cognitive functioning
  • support the immune system and overall well-being

MBSR is a clinically validated program developed at the University of Massachusetts Medical School under the guidance of Jon Kabat-Zinn. Its effectiveness has been confirmed by hundreds of scientific studies, and it is used in hospitals and psychological centers worldwide.

The program helps reduce stress reactivity, anxiety, and depression, while supporting psychological well-being and enhancing cognitive abilities such as memory, attention, comprehension, and decision-making.

Originally developed for patients with psychosomatic conditions and those requiring palliative care, MBSR has gradually expanded into mainstream populations around the world and gained wide popularity.

The retreat will take place in person from July 24–27, 2026, in a peaceful natural environment. After the retreat, we will continue with two online integration sessions, with dates agreed upon together.

The course will be guided by experienced teachers from the Mindfulness Institute Slovakia:
Eva Zavacká and Tatiana Lorencová, both internationally certified MBSR teachers.

Accommodation

Accommodation is provided in shared twin rooms located in bungalows. Each bungalow includes:

  • three twin rooms
  • a kitchenette
  • a shared living area
  • bathroom facilities

In case of interest it is possible to stay in a single room in a bungalow or a in hotel room with own bathroom for additional fee.

The stay includes full board meals.

Accredited Professional Development Program

The Mindfulness Summer School is accredited in Slovakia as an innovative professional development program  “Inovačné vzdelávanie”  for educational and specialist staff, including teachers, school psychologists, special educators, pedagogical assistants, counselors, speech therapists, social pedagogues, trainers, and other educational professionals.

Upon successful completion, participants may apply for a 3% professional development salary bonus, in accordance with their professional development plan.

Completion Requirements

Participants are required to:

  • attend all sessions (4 in-person days + 2 online meetings)
  • complete the distance-learning component
  • submit a final written assignment
  • complete a final presentation before a three-member committee (approval from all committee members is required for successful completion)
