MBCL: Mindfulness-Based Compassionate Living – 3-day retreat

Are you looking for a way to develop a kind approach toward yourself and build genuine self-worth? To better manage difficult emotions and uncertainty? Do you want to pause, recharge, and deepen your practice in a beautiful setting? Or do you already have experience with mindfulness and wish to go deeper?

“When the rays of kindness touch the raindrops of suffering, a rainbow of compassion appears.” – Tibetan proverb

This weekend course, which I will be co-leading with Andrej Jeleník, will help you cultivate compassion for yourself and others, strengthen inner stability, and build genuine self-worth and resilience in the uncertainty of today’s world.

The program builds on mindfulness skills and is suitable as an advanced course for graduates of the MBSR program or those who already have long-term meditation practice.

MBCL (Mindfulness-Based Compassionate Living) is a scientifically grounded program that has been proven to:

✔ Reduce stress, anxiety, and depression
✔ Strengthen emotional resilience and self-esteem
✔ Improve relationships and the sense of connection with others
✔ Support the immune system and overall well-being

The MBCL program was developed by psychiatrist Erik van den Brink and meditation teacher Frits Koster, a former Buddhist monk. Initially used with psychiatric patients in a Dutch clinic, the program has since expanded to the general public across many countries, gaining widespread popularity.

It is based on neuroscientific research, Compassion Focused Therapy (Paul Gilbert), self-compassion studies (Kristin Neff & Chris Germer), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, positive psychology, and the teachings of Tara Brach and Rick Hanson. We offer its foundations in a 3-day format.

How does the course take place?

You can look forward to 3 intensive and nourishing days in nature, where you will slow down, recharge, and learn practical tools to build inner strength, cope with uncertainty, and handle difficult emotions. You will also receive course materials and meditation recordings to support your practice afterward.

The course will take place from May 30, 2025, to June 1, 2025, in a peaceful retreat setting.

The course will be led by experienced teachers from Mindfulness Institute Slovakia: Andrej Jeleník & Eva Zavacká, both internationally certified MBCL instructors.
